Botanical Name:
Gleditsia triacanthos var inermis Ruby Lace
Common Name:
Honey Locust - Ruby Lace
Description:
Rubylace is a thornless Gleditsia (inermis means ‘toothless’) with dramatic glossy foliage that makes it a striking garden feature tree. New foliage is a beautiful ruby, purple colour turning coppery green in Summer and then yellow in Autumn. Gleditsia are hardy, deciduous trees with fine leaves that sit perfectly positioned like bones along a spine. This leaf structure provides dappled shade and makes Gleditsia well suited as a specimen tree as it provides enough light for healthy lawn beneath.
