Botanical Name:
Prunus virginiana 'Purple Jewel'
Common Name:
Plum - Purple Jewel
Description:
As the name suggests a key feature of this hardy, deciduous, compact tree is its wine-red purple foliage that holds until late Autumn. In Spring soft spikes of fragrant white flowers contrast the new foliage which emerges green before turning its signature deep red. In Autumn foliage turns to a bronze crimson. Frost and drought tolerant it can be a standalone feature tree but will also suit avenue planting given it has an upright rounded form.
